I am super excited that CHOC is involved with this year’s HomeAid Orange County’s Project Playhouse, premiering for the first time at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Giant Wheel Court this Saturday, August 1st from noon to 6 p.m.  That’s the day when the public will have the only opportunity to actually step inside the incredible playhouses, including “Choco’s Fantasy Farmhouse,” which is this year’s opportunity drawing playhouse.   The $1 ticket sales from the drawing will benefit CHOC and HomeAid Orange County in supporting their missions of serving children and families in the community.

My fantasy farmhouse offers children an oasis for imaginative play.  There’s plenty of space for kids to paint, draw or build whatever their creativity inspires.  They can retreat up to the cozy loft with a stack of good books or enjoy the outdoors while tending to the organic garden.

I have tons of people to thank for donating their time and services.  McCarthy Building Companies and their many subcontractors and vendors were just awesome! The playhouse was designed by WBSA (Wood, Burghard & Swain Architects) with interiors by Selleck-Zublin Interior Design and landscape architecture by Warren Tong & Co. Landscape Architects.  Special thanks to HomaAid volunteer Ryan Ghere and is wife Tiffani, who is a registered dietician at CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital.  Both Ryan and Tifanni donated countless hours of their time to support this project.  I also want to thank McCarthy Heart Hats, a volunteer community outreach group that enables McCarthy employees to dedicate time and resources to community involvement on paid workdays!

Again, don’t forget to stop by the Open House this Saturday.  The playhouses will continue to be on display until September 12th.
